Join renowned tattoo artist Bill Canales—founder of Full Circle Tattoo and master of large-scale Japanese design—for an in-depth art class exploring the legendary Japanese dragon (ryu or tatsu). With over 32 years of experience, Bill shares his unique system for understanding the anatomy, flow, and symbolism behind one of Japan’s most powerful mythological creatures.
From head to tail, you’ll learn to break down each component of the dragon—its expressive head, scaled body, fierce limbs, and flowing tail—while uncovering the symbolic meaning of each part. Students will also explore traditional accessories like flames and crystal orbs, gaining insight into how these elements enhance energy and movement within a composition.
Through guided instruction and freehand techniques, Bill reveals how to bring a dragon to life with harmony, balance, and dynamic flow—creating art that honors tradition while embracing modern creativity.
